Schlegel Villages Champions Energy Conservation

Long-Term Care and Retirement Community first in Canada to Implement Real Time Energy Management Platform

Schlegel Villages Champions Energy Conservation

For Immediate Release

WHITBY, ON – March 4, 2020 – Schlegel Villages has installed and implemented circuit-level monitoring technology at its Village of Wentworth Heights buildings in Hamilton, becoming the first long-term care and retirement community in Canada to bring the CircuitMeter Real Time Energy Management (“RTEM”) platform into their operations.

The CircuitMeter RTEM platform – supplied and installed by Elexicon Group – will enable Schlegel Villages’ team to monitor, measure and understand the energy consumption of its buildings in greater detail, down to individual pieces of equipment. The implementation of real time energy monitoring will also allow them to reduce operating costs and identify irregularities in energy consumption. The system also enables Schlegel Villages to develop effective, data-backed energy management strategies for peak building performance, and will accurately measure the savings generated by retrofit projects and other conservation initiatives.

“Energy conservation is important to all of us,” said Peter Brouwers, Director of Facilities and Environmental Services with Schlegel Villages. “We’re going to seize opportunities to find efficiencies within our Villages, and we’re excited about the potential we see in this partnership with Elexicon Group.”

Schlegel Villages Chief Financial Officer Rob Schlegel said there are added benefits to the RTEM technology beyond the obvious opportunity to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. “We’re confident the return on this investment will be realized quickly,” said Schlegel. “Any additional savings can then be reinvested in The Village to enhance life quality for the residents who make their home there, and that is always our greatest intention.”

In May 2019, Elexicon Group – in their mission to imagine energy as opportunity – announced they had signed a Channel Partner Agreement with CircuitMeter, acting as a turnkey provider of their advanced metering and real-time energy analytics to municipal, commercial and industrial clients.

“As an entrepreneurial endeavor, Elexicon Group focuses on providing a wide range of energy solutions to our customers,” said President and CEO James Darrach. “With the evolution of the Internet of things in energy efficiency, we know that CircuitMeter and their innovative technologies will enable our clients to make informed decisions to reduce energy consumption and take control of their operating expenses. Our clients are now able to manage energy consumption in real time versus waiting for their bill at the end of the month.”

“CircuitMeter is excited to see Schlegel Villages showing leadership among senior care homes with its adoption of the RTEM platform, and would like to congratulate Elexicon Group for championing advanced energy efficiency solutions that will help their clients reduce operating costs and fight climate change,” said President and CEO Paul Mertes.

Companies seeking to understand their energy usage at a circuit-level and reduce energy costs can reach out to Elexicon Group for a complimentary audit and proposal.
